THE BUSINESS
Ramscraigs Boarding Kennels was established in 2000. Ideally situated adjacent to the main A9. It has a large catchment area covering Caithness, north Sutherland and the Orkneys, all of whom when travelling by raod pass by the front door. In 2003 an extension was added to the kennels, increasing the capacity of dogs to be held at any one time to 35. This new extension consists of large pens each designed to board two 20 stone St Bernard dogs. Each pen has its own secure exercise area and, in addition to that, the dogs are exercised in a large grassed area from which they cannot escape. A grooming parlour that utilises the best of modern equipment was added to the kennels in 2005.

THE PROPERTY
Tykes Cottage has been completely renovated to an exceptionally high standard, and is in excellent decorative order. Accommodation consists of lounge, kitchen, conservatory, bathroom and one bedroom. THE AREA
The village of Dunbeath has a Primary School, Pre-school/Playgroup facilities, Church, Community Hall, Post Office and Shop. Dunbeath village is famous for the novelist Neil Gunn and the surrounding area and its people provided inspiration for several of his novels. The Dunbeath Heritage Centre features interesting displays on the natural and social history of the area. Beautiful walks can be taken down by the Dunbeath Strath along which there are several brochs (ancient fortified houses). The harbour has fine views looking across to Dunbeath Castle. The nearest large town with Tesco and other modern stores is Wick some 20 miles away.
